New Features
The library landscape has continued to evolve—and so have we.
A new experience enabling you to create the best media experience for your patrons.
For the past 30 years Midwest Tape has been exclusively serving public libraries and has been committed to helping them deliver the best experiences to their patrons. And, through the years libraries—as well as their patrons—have continued to evolve.
In 2020, Midwest Tape will continue its evolution by enhancing the tools and resources necessary for you to deliver second-to-none experiences to your patrons—and communities. With a focus on maximizing workflows, we’ll be delivering an enhanced online experience that will remove barriers, set up access to content so that it’s easier to find, and provide a better understanding of how content is used in your institution.
Features include:
Enhanced search capabilities
Improve your search results with the ability to add results filters by digital product, physical product, product status (on sale, coming soon, or new release), as well as filtering on product format, genre, street date, and even by date range.
Enhance your experience further through the ability to save a search, and the ability to switch your search results views between a cover view—that shows title artwork—extended cover view, or ledger view.
Additional library workflow tools
Increase your daily workflow through purpose driven feature sets that will allow you to easily shop and add products to carts from nearly every product touch-point on the site.
Organize your carts with a new ability to manage carts in folders—including cart filtering by title.
New product views for faster selection
Add efficiency in your product selection process with the ability to compare and shop product options from within a product display page.
Welcome to your new home. Re-imagined reports, collection management tools and more.
In 2013 Midwest Tape introduced a new way for libraries to impact their communities—offering quality, always accessible content, in a way that didn’t exist before. With resounding support from our library partners and patrons, hoopla has become the leading, all-in-one, digital experience.
In 2020, hoopla digital will continue its innovation by merging the Midwest Tape website and hoopla library portal into a single experience. By combining the two environments you'll have access to enhanced reporting and new tools to customize and manage your hoopla collection. By bringing the transactional hoopla collection onto midwesttape.com, we'll make it easier to compare your physical and digital collections and importantly, lay the foundation for the next generation of hoopla.
NOTICE:The hoopla account migration is coming on October 19, 2020. Learn more about the migration process and how to access your new hoopla library portal.
A ground-breaking instant title collection will soon be accompanied by a one-user-one copy model to create an ability to deliver a best-in-class digital media experience for you and your patrons.
At ALA’s Summer Conference in June, we announced that we are expanding hoopla to be able to host both one-user-one copy digital titles AND our ground-breaking instant collection of 800,000+ titles. We have been so appreciative of the encouragement and support from so many of our library partners and are happy to share that our beta-testing of this revolutionary new approach will start early next year.
As we move ahead we’ll be with you every step of the way, with the training, transparency, flexibility, and empowerment we hope you have come to expect from Midwest Tape. As we continue evolving the hoopla experience, we are excited to be able to deliver a new set of feature rich enhancements, including:
Transparency
